Throngs of people welcomed zealously the Leader of Golden Dawn in the event in memory of Saint Filothei, which was organized by the Sacred Archdiocese of Athens.
Hundreds of believers had arrived in the early hours the oldest manor house in the city at the road of Adrianus at Plaka, to the house of the Saint, which was recently renovated.

The manor house of Saint Filothei the Athenian
The historical building which is placed in Plaka holds a long history and a religious burden. The inauguration took place in a festive ambiance under the Archbishop Hieronymus, in the pic of the event in the memory of Saint Filothei.
The manor house of Benizels is the oldest surviving residency in Athens and some of her parts are aged back in the 16th century. The religious value is critical, since it is estimated that in this building the lodge of the Saint remained hidden, until it’s deliverance to the Archdiocese of Athens in the beginning of 20th century.
The historical building, which under the action of the late Archbishop Christodoulos was delivered from the ministry of Culture to the Archdiocese was renovated by a group of archaeologists, engineers and preservers and was turned into an updated museum.
The renovated complex of buildings will travel the visitors back to the picture of Athens during the 16th and the 18thcentury. Of course, there will be a special reference to Saint Filothei. In parallel, the open-air space will be available for events.
The “lady of Athens”, the rich girl who offered her life to the Church, became a nun and with her humanitarian deeds she provoked the wrath of Turks which resulted in her torturous death, is honored by the Archdiocese of Athens, given the fact that the lodge of the saint is guarded in a silver case at the Great Church at Evagellismos.
The event in the honor of the Saint started in Friday with a scientific workshop at the University of Athens, under the presence of the President of the Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos, at Saturday took place the evensong and in Sunday took place the majestic divine service and the procession of the sacred lodge of Saint Filothei.
