4th of August Regime: 80th Anniversary - Video
On this day, 80 years ago Ioannis Metaxas and the 4th of August regime came to power in Greece. This period of history is one that the Greek government and Greek-American School system frantically tries to avoid talking about. Metaxas is most famously known for saying “Oxi” to the Italian invasion of Greek lands in WWII. Most “pseudo-democrats” running the educational program for Hellenic students does not want them to know that it was Metaxas who instituted the 40 hour work week , the health care system and many other advancements that social-democrats and “conservatives” try to take credit for.
As is shown in the video footage above, the reality of what the regime looked like. The pseudo-democrats don’t like this footage because it shows that popular nationalism was used to defend the homeland as a very real and workable ideology for Greece. They do not want the Greek people to know the truth about who the real defenders of Greece were. They want people to think that subservience to international money lenders is necessary to maintain their “democracy”.
Despite this distortion of history, Golden Dawn will continue to keep the national memory of Ioannis Metaxas alive. We will continue to fight, both inside and outside the parliament, in Greece and abroad, until the final victory!
