From Theodoros Kolokotronis to…Fidel Castro! Article of N. G. Michaloliakos

G. Kordatos: “We cannot misinterpret history in the name of leftism”

The prime minister of our country visited, as it is known, some days ago Cuba and he was the only prime minister of a European country, who honored the communist dictator of Cuba! Coincidentally, few days before visiting Cuba and raising his left fist in the name of a “revolution” that has become a historical fossil, he had welcomed in Athens the president of the USA, the homeland of capitalism. It seems that from Barak Obama to Fidel Castro the ideological and political hiatus is insignificant, only few memoranda…

1821 and…Fidel Castro!

However, I will not untwine the erratic transformations of the leftist complex, in which trotskyists and stalinists coexist harmonically! Their case is unique and I think it will remain unique…Of course, Castro was in a way a “patriot”, against the insidious towards Cuba great country of USA. Yet, if Cuba was in Europe, what kind of “patriot” would he be?

He would be no different than all these disclaimers of their Homeland, the bolshevik tyrants of the countries of the Eastern Europe, who accepted the Soviet tyranny at the expense of their own national freedom. But this is another subject that I will not analyze.

I will analyze, however, all those uttered by the prime minister of Greece, during his speech in the honor of the memory of a person, who during the governance of his country executed thousands of dissidents, exiled hundred thousands of Cubans, tormented and also imprisoned tens of thousands of them. Despite all these, the leftists pretend to be “democrats”, while they remain unrepentant admirers of the red tyranny. Well, referring to Fidel Castro, Alexis Tsipras stated among other things: “Liberty or Death was the signal of the Greek Revolution of 1821. Patria o muerte (Fatherland or Death) was the signal of the Cuban Rebellion at 1959.”

These were the statements of the chairman of SYRIZA, while the parallelism of the National Revolution of 1821 and the rebellion of the bolshevists in Cuba is apart from being historically ignorant at least profane. Also, regarding the character of the Revolution of 1821 Theodoros Kolokotronis himself had said: “Our own revolution is not similar with the rest that appear in Europe. The revolutions of Europe against their governors are civil wars. Our own war was the utmost fair: a nation against a nation.”

Engels and Marx for 1821

Well, let us see through the book of the late professor Panagiotis Kondylis: “K. Marx-Fr. Engels, Greece, Turkey and the Eastern Issue”, what the fathers of bolshevism considered of the Revolution of 1821, through their writings.

Engels: “In fact there were not but only two powers in the European continent: Russia with tyranny and the Rebellion with Democracy…If though Russia conquers Turkey, then she will augment her power considerably and will become stronger than the entire Europe united. This would be a phenomenal disaster for the issue of Rebellion.”

In other words, what is the meaning of Engels? He invokes that the Ottoman Empire must remain intact, so he is against the National Revolution of Greeks. And if there are any doubts, here is another excerpt of his work:

Engels: “The European war has become an imminent threat. These miserable ruins of former nations, Serbians, Bulgarians, Greeks and the rest of these masses, who provoke the enthusiasm to the liberal Philistines, for the shake of Russia, do not grant each other even the air they breathe and they wish to cut their greedy necks. This would be very nice, if only each and every one of these sub races did not decide for peace or war in Europe.”

Yet, Marx is equally against the Revolution of 1821 and declares: Russia was the one that lured the western powers to support Greeks, by provoking the battle of Navarino, while the Greek liberty and the foundation of the Greek state were sealed with the Russian advance of 1829…”

Anti-Hellenists and Kordatos

It is taken for granted the fact that the misinterpretation of our National History constituted the objective, the target and the ambition of the anti-Hellenists of the new lest side, who are the instruments of the globalization and of the international usurers as well! Well, towards their aspirations there is the Truth, the Truth and the Nationalists, who will fight with all their forces for the continuation of the national memory.

Being leftists though, they present in general the Revolution of 1821, which founded the pillars of the National State of Greeks, as a “class conflict”, I shall answer to them with the words of one of their own, of the majestic historian of the left wing, G. Kordatos, who had the courage to answer against all these bold misinterpretations of the Historical Truth, with judgement, but also patriotism.

In the preface, so, of the “Great History of Greece”, which was written by G. Kordatos in 1957, he specifies that: “The Greek Revolution of 1821 was a major landmark, not only concerning the Greek history, but also the European. The fight of our ancestors for national liberty revealed form the one side the vivacity of the new Greek race and from the other side the devastation of the Ottoman empire.”

Additionally, in the volume 21 (chapter 61 “The agricultural issue”) of his history he clarifies: “We must not consider the Greek revolution as political and social movement, neither interpreting some incidents of 1821 by using contemporary ideological criteria. The revolted Greece of 1821, was not Russia of 1917. We cannot misinterpret the history in the name of leftism”.

These are the words of Kordatos, so you “fellows” have to stop…confounding (insidiously and intentionally) the bolshevism with a National Revolution and Greece of 1821 with…Cuba of 1959! “We cannot misinterpret History in the name of leftism.”
