Eleftherios Synadinos intervened during the debate on the annual report on the competition policy of the European Union, noting that the Troika abolishes any notion of a sovereign State, that they intervene in tax law design, and emphasized that the Union fears the nationalist movements gained popular backing will ultimately force them to pay for their undemocratic policies.
“Thank you, Mr. President.
The competition policy of the European Union is not a tool for the safeguarding of European democracy, The Union itself discriminate in favor or against, depending on the case of the companies or businesses, distorting competition in a single market, by implementing targeted aggressive tax policies and practices, as well as inconsistencies in treatment, at a company and national level.
They accuse, for example, Google of abuse of dominant position. Very good. There must be control. At the same time however, the scandals of bribery and illegal activities of companies such as Germany's Siemens and Volkswagen, are left untouched.
In Greece the past five years the Troika abolishing any notion of a sovereign State, intervenes in the design of tax laws resulting in increased tax evasion and tax fraud, the number of ghost companies which exercise entirely in nonexistent activities, the credit crunch and austerity which leads to poverty and destitution.
On immigration, economic policy, the fundamental freedoms and competition, you have achieved your primary goal, the complete subordination of the nation states in the Europe of the banks and oligarchs.
Your fear for the rise of nationalism doesn’t concern the abolition of democracy, intolerance and homophobia.
You fear that the nationalist movements gaining popular backing will eventually force you to pay for your undemocratic policies.
Thank you.”
