During the discussion in the European Parliament’s plenary in Strasbourg, concerning internal security in the European Union, Lampros Fountoulis, MEP of Golden Dawn, made an intervention. He emphasized the differences in security levels between Member States, the tremendous opportunities offered by the free movement of persons for criminals and terrorists. Also the obsessive and partisan approach of this problem from the so-called "politically correct" political groups in the Union. Finally, he called for urgent action on this important issue, far from ideological preconceptions.

"Exists the so called internal security in Europe? In fact, each EU member state has a different level of internal security, depending on multiple factors, most of them have to do with the internal conditions of each State, and the form of the society. The European Union has done nothing more than adding problems at the member-states. Easily, somebody can start from the Balkans and end up in Denmark by car, carrying all kinds of contraband, from drugs to weapons, ready to be used them in terrorist attacks. The alleged border controls that are already in place, except of creating traffic they offer nothing more, as they are controls only in name. Finally is there among us anyone that he can say with total responsibility that we have seen the end of terrorist attacks? Worse, how many can say that for the past or future terrorists attacks we have done or we are ready to do everything possible to prevent them? Unfortunately, Europe is facing a huge security vacuum, and this vacuum will not be eclipsed if some are not willing to leave behind them ideological obsessions and fixations, totally useless from a long time ago."
