Golden Dawn MEP Lampros Fountoulis: Repatriation of refugees to their countries - Video

13/10/2016 19:14

During the debate in the plenary of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, concerning the problem of illegal immigrants in Calais in France, Lampros Fountoulis, MEP of Golden Dawn made an intervention. Mr. Fountoulis sought care for those who are truly refugees, in neighbouring countries, and to take steps to assure their return, as soon as possible and when the conditions will allow it. About legal economic immigrants, he requested that it should be possible for them to come, only after an invitation from willing countries. Finally, he demanded the immediate expulsion of illegal immigrants.

Follows the full text of the intervention:

"Hundreds of illegal immigrants are daily jostling in Calais in France and during the nights they try to pass through the tunnel, in order to go across in Britain. But we make a mistake when we try to separately consider the situation in Calais. It is just another symptom of the big problem called illegal immigration. I insist on the term illegal immigrants and not refugees. Most of these are not refugees but economic migrants. And because they try to migrate without the proper and required documents and permits are illegal immigrants. We should in every way to ensure a dignified life for refugees in the first country to enter after their exodus and to ensure the fastest possible return to their homes as soon as conditions will allow it. Their children must continue their education in their own languages, so to be ready to reintegrate into their countries' societies. Economic migrants have to return to their countries and come legally only after a country declares interest in accepting them and to know before the start of their journey if they will be admitted. If this is implemented, in a few weeks we will solve most of the problems, including Calais."
