Golden Dawn MEP L. Fountoulis: The estimations on economic development will be proven wrong again - Video
During the meeting of the European Parliament’s plenary in Strasbourg and in the debate on the macroeconomic situation of Greece, Lampros Fountoulis, MEP of Golden Dawn, took the floor. After rejecting estimates that Greece will soon return to growth, claiming that these estimates do not reflect reality and serve political ends, called for one-sided repudiation of national debt and withdrawal from the monetary union, as the only way to a real growth, not only in the numbers but also for the People.
Follows the full text of the speech:
"Greece unfortunately has no chance of returning to real and not logistical growth under the current conditions. Forecasts claiming that, will be proven once again tragically wrong, like the same experts predicted a return to growth back in 2012. In fact, the famous Memoranda are nothing but nonsenses, where incompetent technocrats, are playing with the lives of millions of Greeks. We can’t any longer tolerate this.
The IMF has already admitted the serious mistakes and that the programs are essentially politically directed. The policy of austerity with over-taxation, reducing salaries and pensions, the dismantling of social security funds and the mortgaging of public assets for creditors, has led to poverty, humanitarian crisis and thousands of suicides.
The solution for Greece is one. One sided repudiation of illegal debt and prosecute those responsible. Liberation from the shackles of the euro, which is a catastrophic currency for our country and possibly for other countries in the future. Finally, the return to domestic production and imposing tariffs on those product which are competitive, with those produced or can be produced in Greece."
