Golden Dawn MEP Lampros Fountoulis: USA undermines European businesses - Video
At the recent plenary session of the European parliament in Brussels and during the debate on the effects of US interventions in commercial agreements between European companies and Iran, the Golden Dawn’s MEP, Lampros Fountoulis did an intervention. Citing the recent example, where the US government blocked the Airbus agreement in order the Boeing to get the contract, he concluded that the Americans when they say alliance, they mean that they must always have the upper hand. The supporters of the TTIP type agreements must pay attention particularly to this agreement, which will destroy the European economy.
Following is the full text of the intervention:
The United States of America, consciously choose to prevent European businesses in Iran. The reason is obvious and of course it has nothing to do with alleged concerns about Iran's nuclear program. The most important for them is to advance American commercial interests in that country.
A typical example is the case of Airbus, which as you know has a deal with the public company Iran Air for the supply of 118 aircrafts by the end of January. However, due to the use of some American origin subsystems it is required the approval by the US government for the sale of aircrafts, which five months later, has not yet been given. Of course, this obstructiveness benefited the American company Boeing, which a few days ago completed the negotiations with Iran for the supply of 100 aircrafts.
With these samples of "allied solidarity", and trade as it is meant by the Americans, they care to clarify each time who has the upper hand in this alliance. This must be taken into account by the devotees of TTIP type agreements, for what will be the future of the union because issues like Iran is simply a picture of the transatlantic commercial future that some here support.
