International Congress in the European Parliament - "Syria: tolerance or terrorism?"

04/05/2016 16:03

On the 2nd of May MEP Udo Voigt organized an APF-congress in the European Parliament under the slogan “Syria: tolerance or terrorism?” The Focus was information about the background and current development of the conflict in Syria.

Recently the Alliance for Peace and Freedom had a delegation in Syria to see with their own eyes what is going on, to speak with representatives from the Syrian government and to see how this conflict best could be solved – and the Congress was a result of the visit there.

Among the speakers on yesterday’s meeting was the Syrian ambassador in Brussels, Mr. Ayman Rad, who talked about the situation, and encouraged the participants to continue to shed light over the situation in his homeland and what external forces who have actually created the conflict in the first place. He also showed his gratitude and appreciation to the European patriots who have given their support to the Syrian government – and for their analysis on the situation.

The speaker list also included the organizer MEP Udo Voigt, the President of Alliance for Peace and Freedom, Roberto Fiore, MEP Giorgios Epitideios, APF-board member Hervé Van Laethem. Also invited to speak was Lahoud Lahdo, member of the Syrian community in Belgium, and Father Herman Maes from the Monastery of Mar Yacub who do a lot of charity work in Syria.

The speakers all agreed that the ongoing war in Syria is mainly a result of outside interference and that “partner” of the West such as Turkey, the US and Arab countries such as Qatar and Saudi Arabia play a double game.

The only representatives from the European Parliament who seeks an active contact with the Syrian Government are at the moment the Alliance for Peace and Freedom – and also represent the position that Islamic terrorism that they fight in Syria is the same as Europeans must fight in Europe – and therefore Europe must support Syria in this common struggle.
