MPs, MEPs and executives of Golden Dawn had a strong presence at the anniversary celebration of Northern Epirus’ Autonomy. From early in the day, our Comrades were present at the Church St. George at Karytsi Square for the doxology in honor of the Heroes of the Northern Epirus Struggle.

After, there was a march and a wreath placing at the Tomb of the Unknown soldier by Golden Dawn’s Parliamentary Representative, Christos Pappas amid warm applause.

NORTHERN EPIRUS IS GREEK SOIL, WE WILL RETURN AND THE EARTH WILL TREMBLE

The February 17, 1914, the day of the proclamation of Autonomy in Northern Epirus, is a leading landmark in the history of Northern Epirus Hellenism. The fighting spirit of Northern Epirotes, the unwavering commitment to their Greek consciousness, and their desire for freedom led to the signing of the Protocol of Corfu (May 17, 1914) a text which is still legally valid.

The Protocol of Corfu was signed by representatives of the governments of England, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Russia, Albania and the Government of the Autonomous Northern Epirus. The Protocol of Corfu ceded rights to the Northern Epirotes and provided rules for the operation of Greek schools, the use of the Greek language in public administration and courts, their proportional participation in the police and public services and the free expression of the Greek Orthodox Church.

The Albanian government did not respect the Protocol and their signature and unilaterally abolished it resulting in the violation of human rights and the endless persecution and imprisonment of Northern Epirotes that unfortunately indirectly continues until today.
