Dynamic reaction of the MEPs of Golden Dawn against counterfeiters of history: Macedonia is one and Greek!
Macedonia is one and Greek! No matter the efforts of the domestic and foreign enemies of our nation to distort history and steal the name of our Macedonia, the Greek Nationalists of Golden Dawn will be everywhere and always in the front line against any such attempt.
After establishment of a provocative group in the European Parliament called "Friends of Macedonia" the Greek MEPs of the Golden Dawn could not leave this provocation unanswered.
Thus, in the first meeting of the few willing to support the creation of this group, the MEPs of the Golden Dawn entered the hall and handed a protest resolution on this illegal and against the UN resolutions and the official position of the European Union, act.
Following is the text of the resolution that was notified:
We would like to declare our complaint and disagreement with the formation of this group, called, wrongly as we think, "Friends of Macedonia". This given name is misleading, and in direct contradiction with the decisions of the United Nations concerning the temporary name of FYROM. Also, we would like to remind you that European Union officially recognises this country under the name FYROM and not Macedonia. Given the fact that this unofficial group will act inside the spectrum of the European Parliament, we consider appropriate to use the name that the European Union recognises to refer to this country.
Also, we would like to inform you and remind you that FYROM is promoting actively territorial claims against Greece, but also against Serbia, Bulgaria and Albania. To support our statement, you can inspect the books of the public schools in this country; where there are maps depicting FYROM with extend borders, covering areas belonging to the aforementioned states. In top of that, the current Prime Minister of FYROM has been photographed in front of this kind of maps, and members of the cabinet have many times declared that Thessaloniki, the second biggest city in Greece and the biggest city in Macedonia is "under Greek occupation".
As for their non-historical claim to Ancient Macedonian Legacy, they are doing this solely for political reasons, as any respected historian can tell that there is not even the smallest connection between them and the Ancient, Greek Kingdom of Macedonia. As for this unofficial group, we think that as we respect the feelings of other European states, as in the case of Bosnia-Herzegovina, where we use this name and not the very popular in Greece name of only Bosnia, we demand from our colleagues to show the same sensitivity towards Greeks and utilise the name under which this state is recognised by the European Union.
