14/01/2016 13:11
After the unacceptable statements by the MEP Angel Dzhambazova of the group ''European Conservatives and Reformists'' (in which belongs and the Greek MEP Notis Marias) about the use the name of Macedonia from Skopjans when participating in a rally in Skopje on the occasion of the anniversary of the death of Mara Buneva, General Eleftherios Synadinos sent him the following reply reminding him that Bulgaria joined the European Union in 2007 with the support of Greece:
"Mr. Dzhambazki,
I carefully heard your delirium speech (links below) that took place at Skopje on the 10th of January 2016, on the right of Skopje to name their country as they wish and that Sofia is the biggest city of Makedonia.
I should remind you that when Bulgaria joined European Union in 2007 happened with the support of Hellas. It happened though we knew your exact positions, from the time that you were a Soviet Union΄s satellite country, which were to build a Great Bulgaria and to access the Aegean Sea. Whenever I read history, back when I was a pupil, I had criticised all the bad things Vasilleios B' (also known as Bulgar Slayer) Emperor of Byzantine had done to Bulgarians, but now I give him the rightful cause".
In the above statements, the MEP of Golden Dawn George Epitideios sent to the Bulgarian colleague the following answer:
''Listening carefully to the speech you made in a demonstration in Skopje recently (January 10, 2016), I feel the need to remind you of the following truths:
a. Skopje able to name their country as they wish. Provided, however, that the name which is used, should not be product of theft of history and culture.
b. In addition, the name should not be used as a tool of expression expansionary attitude and goals.
c. Macedonia is Greek from ancient times, that is a truth that you know very well.
d. Your views that "the largest Macedonian city is Sofia", activates my duty to remind you that the "Greater Bulgaria" with access the Aegean, was the dream of many officials in your country for many centuries. However, although some modern Bulgarians, including yourself, still have the same dream, they should be ready to live a nightmare when they wake up.
For the above reasons, your opinions are unacceptable.''
