The farmers in Komotini waited for the SYRIZA Minister of Rural Development, Apostolou and instead were met with riot police – beatings, chemicals and injuries outside the building of the Regional Unit of Rhodope.
Farmers were outraged by the behavior of the Minister of Rural Development Evangelos Apostolou who refused to see them. The Minister went directly to the building of the Regional Unit and met with the Regional Governor and the Deputy Regional Governor. The farmers demanded that the Minister exit the building and speak with them, however they were ‘informed’ by the police that there will be no discussion with the Minister.
And that’s when the incidents began. The riot police made their appearance with chemical use and later with beatings tried to break up the farmer’s demonstration so that the SYRIZA Minster could leave the building.
The Golden Dawn Press Office released the following statement on the Panhellenic mobilizations of the productive forces of the country: “Golden Dawn supports the righteous struggles of the Greek farmers against the criminal measures of Tsipras-Kammanos which have the primary objective of the destruction of the primary sector the and annihilation of all the productive forces of the country.”

A method of escape is being sought at this time by the Minister of Rural Development and Food, in consultation with the police commissioner. The farmers have surrounded the building and are throwing eggs and rocks, resulting in the building alarm going off. Riot police forces remain outside the building. The Minister just wrapped up a press conference with the local media.
