''Hellas and macedonia is one - No compromise''
Following the actions of Messrs. MEPs on the unacceptable attempt of the Croat MEP Ms Petir to create an informal group called "Friends of Macedonia" we publish the letter sent to the Presidents of the political groups in the European Parliament urging them to use their prestige and authority to convince the MEPs of their groups to act in a way that, if nothing else is consistent with observance of the ethics.
Dear Presidents of the Political Groups,
Freedom of speech is a basic foundation of democracy and a basic pillar of European Union itself. Freedom of speech should abide by international laws and rules, otherwise it leads to disruption of order.
It has been noticed since about a year and a half of parliamentary activities that many colleagues, representatives of member states, violate the decisions 817 and 845 (1993) of the UN Security Council, the resolution 47/225 (1993) of the general assembly of UN and the interim agreement of 1995 not only by pronouncing the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia as Macedonia but also enforcing some specific and inadmissible actions for the acceptance of the name from members of European parliament , like the action of the Croatian MEP Mrs Marijana Petir who’s trying to create an informal group by the name ‘’Friends of Macedonia’’.
Maybe they are not interested in complying with the laws, within the temple of democracy, but you as Presidents of the Political groups are obliged to make them act orderly. Otherwise, you are responsible for the outwit of democracy, the laws and the decisions of the international organizations as well as you demean the position given to you by the citizens of your countries.
Moreover, you provoke directly our country and the Hellenic people, since you are aware of our sensitivity in this matter due to the expansive forecasts that fYROM has always been expressing, with the theft and the illegal use of the Hellenic name Macedonia.
Please be so kind as to use your power and your prestige to convince the MEPs of your groups in order to act properly and in a way that complies with courtesy and the code of contact.
