When History repeats itself: 1961, 2017, EDA, Golden Dawn and the effort for the reinforce of PASOK

During the elections of 1958, due to the dissolution of the political parties of the center, EDA was the second party and the Opposition, a fact that terrified the interior, but also the international factors of the cold war west. Well, then they decided to unite the political parties of the center in order to politically discard EDA.

 

The American factor had the first play as the dominant in the political sphere in Greece and relatively to that fact, one of the most known writers and reporters of the left wing, Vasilis Rafailidis writes the following: 

 

“History (comical and tragic) of the modern Greek State 1830-1974”, editions “Twenty first” , p. 361, “The creation of the Union of Center” :

 

“However, the famous Center Union with Georgios Papandreou was clearly and unprejudiced an American creation and I do not understand why this fact is artificially hidden…At June of 1961, the American deputy minister of Foreign Affairs Mc Gee arrives in Athens and with his astonishing activity manages to persuade immediately all the ambitious leaders of the parties of the center that they ought to, for the good of the country and the Democracy, Greek and American, to unite with Georgios Papandreou at the head pf the Union, the most undoubtedly efficient politician of the center. And in this way, with the American intervention the notorious now Union of the Center is created and she will play an important role to the Greek political sphere. The fact that the Union center is an American creation has never been doubted, nor has it ever been promoted, for understandable reasons. The “proud and independent” Greek policy and the policy of the Center would have been derogated. 

 

Those that happened in the beginning of the decade of 60’ also happen in our time with GOLDEN DAWN and PASOK. Not only the oligarchy in the interior, but also the international factor, especially the European, need a strong PASOK and try in any way to create it, but until now their efforts fail and it seems that in the future they will fail as well. 

 

Their problem is major because in the next elections they want a reliable government that will serve their interests and this cannot be realized without a strong PASOK. The other case, which they may try to impose, is a political cohabitation of N.D. with SYRIZA, but in this case there is also the danger, a visible and evident danger, that GOLDEN DAWN will be the third political party and consecutively the Opposition!

 

In simple words, as much as EDA constituted a problem in the beginning of 60’ being the Opposition, equally today their main problem is the marginalization of GOLDEN DAWN, of a party definitely not marxist, which is however free from the international submission and does not want to have any relation with the international factor, with the foreign interests that prevail and aspire to prevail in the future in our Homeland.
